Hello, Diana here, co-founder of DLG Media.

I’m writing a quick note to wish you all a happy 2018, and to give you an update. You may have noticed that we’ve been a little silent, not because we don’t care, but because we have been a bit busy since the birth of our daughter last year. We also have taken some time to regroup and honestly, digest the current events of the world we are living in.

We questioned shutting the site down, but, we realize that today MORE THAN EVER we need positive storytelling, and to highlight the successes of multicultural America, and people of color. In particular, I’m interested in highlighting the work of women of color who it seems, are in overdrive trying to keep our civil liberties alive.

While I’d love to only highlight the positive, I also realize we need to shed light on the awful treatment our communities are facing every day. For example, there are people detained in awful conditions, Dreamers who don’t know what their fate is, police brutality, inequality in education… so many issues to name here.

Both Ludo and I think we need to shift the focus to a more activist approach. Therefore that is the route we think we will be taking. We ask that you bear with us as we continue finding our way.

For 2018, I want to encourage and inspire you (I hope) to pick an issue, any issue, that you are passionate about and to do anything, it can be as little as signing a petition, sharing a petition, tweeting at your congress person, whatever, to move the needle.

Let’s remember:

1- Elected officials work FOR US. We must demand more.

2- The power of the pen, and the phone! Call, call, call!

3- The power of the tweet – tweet at your reps too!

4- If you’re looking to make change and there isn’t a platform to do it, CREATE IT!

5- It’s 2018 and midterms are coming, we should be on overdrive to make our voices heard. Let’s turn Capitol Hill blue.

Thank you for reading and let’s kick ass in 2018!
