With New Years around the corner, it’s time to make sure you cover all your basis for a successful party.  And while food, drink and noisemakers are an absolute must, no New Years Eve party would be complete (or successful for that matter) without a solid musical play list.

You have to have a little of the new and a little of the “it’s not new years unless you play these songs.”  Especially at a multicultural party. Here are our picks…

For Free” DJ Kahled feat Drake

With over 1,000,000 digital copies sold, this certified Platinum hit is pretty much a must.  And Drake is everywhere (keep scrolling).

Hasta el Amanecer” by Nicky Jam

While Jam released an English version of this song, “With You Tonight,” we’re sticking with the original because it’s just too good.

Work” by Rihanna feat Drake

Dancehall!  And it’s… “Work, work, work, work, work, work.  You see me I be work, work, work, work, work, work.  You see me do me dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt.  There’s something ‘bout that work, work, work, work, work, work.  When you a goin’ learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn. Me na care if  me tired, tired, tired, tired, tired, tired.”  You’re welcome.

Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd feat Gucci Mane

Well, this should come as no surprise.  Having been featured in a zillion mannequin challenges, this song  will surely get everyone on their feet even if oddly enough it’s to stand still.

“Vivir mi Vida” by Marc Anthony

This song is the song that just won’t quit.  It’s  the feel good anthem that truly will get you ready for the New Year.  A crowd pleaser through and through.

Vacaciones” by Wisin

The first single off Wisin’s highly anticipated new album to be released in  2017.   Wisin does not disappoint!  Le lo le lo lai!

Now and Later”  by Sage the Gemini

Thanks to being featured in one of Snapchat’s face filters (and an irresistible dance beat), this song is already climbing the charts.  Points for featuring it at your party BEFORE it became a huge hit!

Side to Side” Ariana Grande feat Niki Minaj

If you don’t know the meaning behind this hit you may be in for a surprise but hey, it makes for a great song.

La Bicicleta” by Carlos Vives and Shakira

A bit Vallenato + a  bit Reggaeton + a bit Cumiba =  A big hit!

Danza Kuduro,” Don Omar feat Lucenzo

Kuduro is a style of dancing and singing from Angola and clearly Don Omar new what he was doing when collaborating on this infectious song with Lucenzo.  It’s earworm, but good earworm!

Ras Tas Tas” by Cali Flow Latino

No one can or will sit still during Ras Tas Tas.  Como Asi?  Come Fue?  Find out…

All the Way Up” by Fat Joe, Remy Ma feat French Montana and Infared

Fat Joe’s comeback hit!  Gotta show love for Fat Joe and his certified Platinum hit.

Formation”  Beyonce

Couldn’t forget the Queen Bey.  This was a standout from “Lemonade” and of course a bonafide hit.

Panda” by Desiigner

Because a Dab will be in order at some point in the evening.

1999”  by Prince

Does it ever really have to be 1999 to make this song a New Year’s Eve must?   This is the quintessential New Year’s Eve song and probably more so than ever with the unexpected loss of  Prince this year.   “Tonight we’re going to party like it’s (fill in the year)” because 1999 is just a filler for every year in perpetua as long as you party your ass of while ringing it in.

No Hay Cama Pa’ Tanta Jente” by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico

And we saved the best for last.  If you don’t play “No Hay Cama Pa Tanta Jente” at a Latino New Year’s Eve party – DJ is fired.  That is all.
